NYNY: New York Needs You

Hello All,

Today I am presenting NYNY or New York Needs You. The Application is due February 2014 but start thinking about it now! You would have to submit 3 essays, transcripts, resume and letters of recommendation. Start looking into the essay prompts and talk to potential writers for your letters of rec.

This is for the Fellows Program and here is the overview I found on their site: New York Needs You helps first-generation college students select, secure, and succeed in their careers. The Fellows Program is an intensive mentoring and training program where Fellows develop relationships with highly accomplished community and business leaders.

As long as your parents do not have a bachelors degree, you are eligible to apply. Make sure you visit their site to see any other requirements: http://www.newyorkneedsyou.org/apply

Amazing opportunity with access to mentors and business leaders!

Here is a breakdown of the three programs they offer in a little diagram I found on their site.

NEW: Network of Executive Women

One more post for today.

Introducing the Network of Executive Women. This program has a beautiful mission statement: To attract, retain and advance women in the retail and consumer products industry through education, leadership and business development.

This network focuses more on Retail and Consumer Products.

To join, follow this link: https://newonline.site-ym.com/general/register_directory_search.asp

This program is different as it is a membership. The program has a fee of 200$. This is the first time I post a program that costs money to join, but it has amazing partners and it has many events to participate in.

Follow this link to see the list of available events: http://newonline.site-ym.com/events/event_list.asp

If they host events frequently near you or accessible to you, I say give it a shot. They host huge national conferences, networking events, and mentoring events.

After looking over the site, I believe this network is open to women of all ages! I love this!

Unlock those Goldendoors ladies!

MLT KICKOFF SEMINAR SEPT 19-22

Hey Everyone, I am back from New York City! I had such a great time and I have a few pictures! First, let me talk a little more about MLT. MLT was designed with many intentions and hopes. One is to increase the number of minorities in executive fields. This is what I found on their site:

Although comprising nearly 30% of the US population, African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans comprise only 3% of senior leaders in corporations, non-profits and entrepreneurial ventures.

Those percentages are discouraging right!

At this conference, I was in a room with top minority students from around the nation. Their accomplishments are grand and I believe this group will be the next C-level Executives in various fields.

Who is eligible for this program: SOPHOMORES IN COLLEGE. Do not miss this life changing opportunity. The coaches will open some doors for you and your mentors can as well.

This weekend I attended the career fair held for us. It was a private fair where 200 students networked with top notch companies. Some in attendance were: Google, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte Consulting, Disney, Clorox, P&G, Accenture, Credit Suisse.

A quick shoutout for Credit Suisse since they were the gracious hosts!

Now for some pictures!
